Man Claims He Got High from McDonalds Tea That Allegedly Had Weed in It

Do you remember the first time you had weed? Parrish Brown does—but that's because he'd never had any kind of experience with marijuana until a couple of weeks ago. Not only that, but the 24-year-old had to call his dad, his boss, and the cops so he could tell them all that he was high as a kite.

According to the Island Packet, Brown went through a McDonald's drive-thru in Hilton Head, South Carolina during a late-night break from work, and he ordered a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, a double cheeseburger, and a sweet tea with light ice and extra lemon. The employee working the window repeated the words extra lemon "in an odd voice," before handing him his drink.

Brown said that his tea tasted weird, but he was thirsty and decided to keep drinking it. At some point, though, his attempts to stir it with the straw put a hole through one of the three bags of marijuana that had been put in the cup, which explains why he felt a little strange too. "I have never had weed a day in my life, so immediately after I started drinking it, I started to feel weird and it didn’t taste like something I recognized," Brown told the newspaper.

When he took the lid off the cup, he saw the baggies, and he also started to freak out. "Well, I was high and panicking and at work, so I called my dad,” he said. “I didn’t want to get in trouble for this.” His dad told him to call his boss, and his boss told him to call the cops—and that's like the holy trinity of people you don't want to deal with when you're high, especially when you're high for the first time. (Brown said that the drink didn't make him feel the way he "understood" that weed would make you feel, so he's not entirely sure that he wasn't given something else too. Bless his heart.)

An officer from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Department investigated and after he sniffed Brown's sweet tea, he confirmed that yes, there was marijuana in the cup. Both the cops and Brown's boss questioned why he kept drinking the tea, but Brown shrugged it off, telling them that he was just thirsty.

The Sheriff's Department has not yet released any other details about Brown's memorable to-go order, nor have they confirmed which of Hilton Head's two McDonald's restaurants may or may not give you a couple of ounces when you say "extra lemons." Major Bob Bromage, a spokesperson for the Beaufort County Sheriff's Department confirmed to VICE that the incident is still under investigation, but no arrests have been made. According to the Deputy's Report, the marijuana was taken into evidence and will be destroyed.

Last December, Anthony Andrew Gallagher rolled up to a McDonald’s in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and tried to "extra lemons" his way into dinner, offering the drive-thru worker a baggie of weed in exchange for his food. The McDonald's employee declined, so Gallagher drove off—but he came back a second time, while the cops were looking for him. "The suspect told police that he did offer marijuana in exchange for food but that he did so as a joke," the Port St. Lucie Police Department wrote on Facebook.

Just remember that McDonald's and bags of weed don't mix. Well, they do mix, like, really well, but try not to mix them until you've clocked out or have taken your to-go order home.
